Triathlon

I completed a triathlon today! It was a great experience to train for something for so long and to be able to accomplish my goal. I don't think I would consider the tri fun, but it was very rewarding to have trained for something that was so hard and that all my hard work paid off. My goal was to finish in 2 hours, I had a time of 1:54:19. I was able to beat my fastest swim time by almost a minute. My bike was a little bit slower than normal, but I had to stop for a little while to report a guy who was exposing himself to the racers, which was very violating to me. My run was ok, I had to walk a lot because I had a horrible side ache, my legs were ok and I wasn't too out of breath, but I couldn't push past the pain. I kind of wish I would have done better on that part, but at least I didn't hurt when I walked.

I got a little choked up and almost started crying at the end of the race because I have come so far--last year at this time I was still wearing a neck brace and walking with a cane, my back and neck would hurt when I would stand up during the time it took to make dinner--but I had to make myself stop crying because it was cutting off my air flow too much.

I don't know if I'll ever do another triathlon, but I am not saying never.

Choo choo trained

Last night during dinner Bryant asked for some soda and I told him he had to eat his dinner first. Then I quoted the movie Incredibles a little bit and said Marlee has eaten more than you and she isn't even toilet trained yet. Then the kids started joking around with that for a little while when Spencer said, "Bryant have you been choo choo trained?" We laughed for a long time.

Random stuff on the side of the road

I have been biking a lot to get ready for my triathlon and during my last few rides I decided to blog about the random stuff I have seen on the side of the road.

1 glove
crescent wrench
a gas cap
boys pair of underwear
lizards
plastic cup
a SNAKE which I also ran over
plastic memorial flowers which I suppose are from a bad accident

I think there were more things, but I can't remember them at this time. When I see random stuff like the items listed above it makes me wish I could find the owner and give them back to them. I HATE it when I loose stuff, I am borderline obsessive/compulsive about it.

Hooray, Bryant is SIX!

Bryant's 6th birthday fell on the 2nd day of school this year. We had a fun time celebrating his special day.

Here he is opening his presents before school starts.

Bryant asked for a cookies n' cream cake with a cherry on top.

After school we had a birthday party for Bryant with some of his friends. Here they are playing a game where they have to tie a balloon to their ankle then try to pop everyone else's balloon before someone pops theirs. It was crazy fun. You'll notice that Karalee wasn't too happy about her balloon getting popped.

In this game I split the boys up into small groups and gave each group 20 marshmallows and 15 toothpicks. The group who made that tallest tower in 5 minutes won.

PRESENTS!!

2010 First Day of School

I am kind of sad the school is here again already. We had a fabulously fun summer. Although, during the last week of summer Spencer started complaining about being "bored of summer", so I guess it is time again. I am sad that my Bryant boy is going to be gone all day now too since he is a big first grader, but he loves it. Bryant is in Mrs. Casey's first grade class and Spencer is in Ms. Mason's third grade class. After meeting them I think they will be great teachers.

Spencer wanted a shot of his fat backpack.

Walking to the back of the school for Flag Ceremony.

My handsome Bryant Boy.

Lining up for Flag Ceremony with their classes. I love that they start every school day with a patriotic flag ceremony.
