Chad's owie

Last Tuesday when Chad was playing flag football he caught an interception and as he was running past the last defender he put on a little more speed her felt his hamstring start hurting.  He kept on playing anyway.  Then he also played basketball on Thursday night and soccer on Saturday night and that's the night we noticed this sweet bruise on his leg.

I've done a little research online and when a hamstring gets torn the bleeding can go all the way down to his calf.  We are going to keep an eye on it.  Chad says it is feeling better though and so I don't think it will slow him down much.  I guess he's starting to get old.

Marlee is Two!

We have had a great day celebrating Marlee's special day today.  Here she is opening her presents.

Bryant was so cute he wanted to give Marlee a present so he drew her a picture and gave her some coupons telling her that he would push her on the swing, play duck, duck goose and tag with her.

I bought some cupcakes and a little bundt cake at our Young Women's bake sale yesterday for Marlee's birthday cake.

I love Marlee's fun personality.

We had fun playing hungry hippos, ring around the rosy, London bridges, and duck, duck goose as a family this afternoon.

Grammy Sanders stopped by this evening and brought Marlee some princes shoes that play music and light up and a baby doll.  Thank you Grammy!!

Pictures of our Family Life

Karalee got the camera out and surprised me with these first six pictures

Bryant lost his third tooth

Bryant lost his fourth tooth, his baby smile is gone forever. :(

Last week during spring break Bryant got right to work getting his chores done.  One of his chores is to read for 10 minutes.  I love that Karalee snuggled up to him and he read to her.

On Monday for FHE we took a trip to the cemetery to visit Joseph's grave.  His birthday is this Saturday.  He would be turning eight years old.  We had our lesson in the car and Karalee is raising her hand to answer a question.  When I finally stopped trying to get a good picture and asked her what her answer was she couldn't remember.  Oops.

Could Marlee be any cuter?  I love her grin in this picture.

I caught another cute grin from Marlee.

Two Granola Recipes

Here in the Sanders family we LOVE granola.  I almost always try to have some made and stored in the pantry.  I store it in the plastic tupperwareish cereal containers.  The recipes below are my favorite granola recipes.  For all of my recipes I use the quick rolled oats that you buy in the buckets from Costco because they have 17g of fiber and 6g of protein per serving which is way more fiber than I have found in any other type of oats.

Peanut Butter Granola (I got this recipe from my sister Amy.  She adds raisins but I don't.  I also changed the amounts of the ingredients a little bit.)

1/2 cup oil
1 cup peanut butter (I use creamy)
1 cup brown sugar
10 - 12 cups oats depending on how wet you like your granola
1/2 cup honey

Put the oats in a large mixing bowl.  In a smaller bowl stir the oil into the peanut butter.  Stir the brown sugar and the honey into the peanut butter mixture.  Spread granola into a large roasting pan** and bake at 300 degrees for 15-20 min. stirring occasionally.  Add raisins when cool if desired.

Yummy, Yummy Granola (I got this recipe from my sister Crystal.  My sisters are the best!!  This is probably my favorite recipe, hence the two yummys in the title, but with all the butter and sugar it contains it isn't very healthy so I have been trying other recipes.  However, none of other the recipes I have tried taste this good.)

10 cups oats
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped almonds
2 cubes butter (real butter vs. margarine makes it taste so good)
2 cups brown sugar

Add all the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl, mix well.  Melt the butter and brown sugar together in the microwave, mix well.  Pour the butter mixture into the oats and mix until all the oats are coated.  Spread granola into a large roasting pan** and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

**(If you don't have a large roasting pan you can cut the recipes in half and use a large cookie sheet.)
