Bryant is FIVE!

I can hardly believe my Bryant boy is FIVE. His birthday was on August 12th. We had a good time celebrating his birthday. I felt badly that I am still recovering from my accident and was not able to spoil him like I wanted to, but we still managed to have lots of fun. We went to Peter Piper Pizza for his birthday dinner. I took some pictures on my phone, but I am to lazy to upload them right now so these will have to do.

Here are two of his gifts from Chad and I. His main gift - Lego Indiana Jones the Wii game - did not come until the day after his birthday. Since I am not able to drive I ordered it online, but I guess I should have started shopping earlier. Luckily he was ok with it and said he still had a good birthday.

Grammie Sanders gave Bryant a gift card to Toys R Us and he picked out this glove.

Bryant picked out these cupcakes. He originally wanted me to make him a cake, but luckily was able to talk him into picking something out at the store instead. Baking kind of wears me out still.

Five Reasons why I LOVE Bryant
  1. You always know how he feels. He is usually either really happy, or really mad. He is definitely not one to sit on the fence. As his mother I feel that because he is so determined, I have a great responsibility to teach him correctly. If I can help him see the benefit of choosing the right when he is young I know he is going to do GREAT things.
  2. When he plays the wii he is so fun to watch. He jumps around and can't hold still. He tends to migrate to right in front of the tv. He's a crack-up.
  3. When he gets excited he has no quite voice. He just can't hold it in. Fun.
  4. He loves to give me surprises. Throughout the day he will come up to me and say Mom I have a surprise for you. Then he'll proceed to give me a hug and a kiss and tell me I am beautiful. So sweet.
  5. He writes me little notes. Even though he can't write all the words he is able to figure out the some of the letters and write them down. He'll write I L Y for I love you and U R B T F for You are Beautiful. So cute.

Great Talk

I really enjoyed reading the Elder Nelson's talk about the Family that he gave at the World Congress of Families. (See post below to find a link to his talk) After I read it I feel like I might want to have 3 or 4 more children. Here are some of my favorite quotes.

  • "Nothing, absolutely nothing, compares with the companionship between a husband and a wife. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can provide the joy and growth that come from happy children who make a family circle."
  • "If there is any hope for the future of nations, that hope resides in the family. Our children are our wealth; our children are our strength; our children are indeed our future!"
  • "In 1960, minor children formed half of the population; now they constitute only 30 percent. Predictions are that by the year 2025, single-person households will outnumber families with children. What would happen to the future of nations if the next generation failed to appear in significant number? The answer is alarming! Yes, we would be poorer economically, but even poorer spiritually. Spiritually, we need children as much as they need us. They are our spiritual wealth. Children teach us the joy of building goodness that will outlive our own. They teach us the joy of loving someone more than self. That love lifts one to give from the abundance of one's own life to help a child."
  • "We simply must value children more than we do! Without a new generation to replace the old, there is no wealth; without families, there is no future."

First Day of School

My boys had their first day of school today. Spencer is in 2nd grade. Bryant started afternoon kindergarten. I missed them and I am glad they are back home now. They are my helpers.

Bryant and with his cousin Carter playing on the playground before class starts. They get to be in the same class.

Spencer's Photoshoot 2009

It's August, which in our family means time to take a new picture to go up on the wall. Which picture of Spencer do you like best? (The number's are below the picture.) If you don't really like any of them and you think I should try again let me know. The first picture is of Spencer last year just so we can see how he's grown.

SCARY

So last night Chad noticed some movement in our laundry room in between the wall and our freezer. Upon closer inspection he found this snake. So SCARY. We looked around online and we think it is a Smith's Black-headed Snake. Luckily their venom is considered harmless to humans.

I really hope it is the same snake I saw in the garage a couple months ago. It is the same size as the one I saw before, but from what I remember the one in the garage was gray or green, but I didn't get a really good look at it. I am going to have to keep praying that we will be safe in our house and hopefully we will have NO more snakes.
