Last weekend we went to Snowflake for a family trail ride on Saturday and to brand my Dad's calves on Monday. These pictures were taken during the middle of the trail ride when everyone stopped for lunch and to change out a few riders. Chad, Spencer, and Annalyn rode the second half of the trail ride, which probably ended up being about 4 or 5 miles. Bryant rode most of the way, but he started getting sleepy about an hour or two into the ride so Chad called me when they got close to 4 mile knoll and I picked him up and took him home. Just before they started the second half of the ride Spencer ended up getting to ride Chester by himself, but we didn't get any pictures of that. I was kind of nervous watching Spencer ride away on that big horse all by himself across so much country, but he did great. He was really slow at first, but Chad said he quickly learned how to kick the horse right and he learned how to make him run and rode all over the place. I am so proud of him. He would make a great cowboy for Grandpa if he lived close enough to the ranch. There were a few casualties on the ride which kind of put a damper on the weekend. My brother Shon and my Dad got bucked off. Shon was ok by my Dad got pretty banged up and had to go the hospital where they found out he had 8 broken ribs, one of which was broken in two places. He is home recovering now, but he will not be cowboying for a while.

Wow! That really IS a great picture! (he he he...wink wink...) It was fun to see the kids our on the horses!
See ya soon!
How many horses does your dad have? It must be alot since there are so many of you. I'm sorry about your dad and hope he feels good soon. It is cool your boys aren't scared of horses and that Spencer can run with the horse. I don't even like to run on a horse. It scares me!
Deanne,
I think my dad only has three horses plus one little baby colt. Most of those horses were my brothers'. We also borrowed some from my uncles and other friends.
I am so sad about your dad, that is such a bummer. What a fun weekend your boys had though. Quite the cowboys!
