Karalee's 7th Birthday

Karalee turned seven years old on Friday, Nov. 1st.  We had such a fun day celebrating her birthday.  We had a party with LOTS of her friends.  I planned a photo scavenger hunt for her party.  When searching for a good birthday party activity I found a nature scavenger hunt online and then I added lots of fun silly clues.  I was really excited for the activity but it was kind of crazy with lots of kids, but they still had fun.  The activity would probably work better with 10 kids or less.  We weren't able to finish the scavenger hunt because my phone that I had them use to take the pictures ran out of batteries.  I should have charged it.  Bummer.  I had hoped to hook my phone up to my TV and let the kids look at all the picture we took, but my phone died and we ran out of time.   Here are the instructions to the the game I came up with.

Birthday Party Picture Scavenger Hunt
Let the birthday child and each birthday guest take a turn to using a camera to take a picture of an item on your list.  Make sure you have enough clues for every guest.  Stay outside as much as possible, if you can’t find the clue outside, you can look in the house.  I printed out an extra list and cut the clues out and had each child draw one clue from a bag to decide who gets to take each picture.
1.      Take a picture of 2 different types of grass
2.      Take a picture of all the birthday guests jumping on the trampoline
3.      Take a picture of leaves from 3 different trees
4.      Take a picture of all the birthday guests sitting, standing, or hanging on the swing set
5.      Take a picture a large rock
6.      Take a picture of all the birthday guests playing ring around the Rosie.
7.      Take a picture of 3 smooth stones
8.      Take a picture of the birthday guests in a group hug
9.      Take a picture of something plastic
10.  Take a picture of all the birthday guests playing red rover
11.  Take a picture of a stick
12.  Take a picture of all the birthday guests doing jumping jacks
13.  Take a picture of something that makes noise
14.  Take a picture of the birthday guests linking arms in a straight line tallest to shortest
15.  Take a picture of something that fell out of a tree
16.  Find something that begins with the first letter of the birthday child's name and take a picture of it
17.  Take a picture of something shiny
18.  Take a picture of all the birthday guests making a silly face
19.  Take a picture of something white
20.  Take a picture of something soft
21.  Take a picture of all the birthday guests jumping in the air, on the ground (not on the trampoline)
22.  Take a picture of the birthday girl running through a cheer tunnel

I like to decorate the family room and set all my kid's presents out the night before their birthday so they can wake up and open present right away.  Here's Karalee's loot.

Karalee's poster had funyuns (our family loves funyuns) taped all around and it said "Happy Birthday Karalee!!  We are so glad that your such a FUN girl.  We love you and are so glad that you are our daughter."  It also had a $5 bill + a $1 bill + $1 bill = 7

Karalee chose Chick-fil-a for lunch.  When we were almost ready to leave I asked them if they give out treats for birthday guests.  Karalee got a yummy ice cream sundae that she shared, a stuffed chick-fil-a cow, a hat and a gift certificate for a free kids meal.

That's as far as we got on the photo scavenger hunt.  It was fun.  Here are pictures of Karalee opening presents and blowing out the candles on her custom cake made by her Aunt Jennie.  Karalee asked for a pink cake, with blue frosting and purple flowers.

We finished off the night with a sleep over with Josh.

This picture means a lot to me.  I'd been wanting a take a picture of me and Karalee together all day but Karalee didn't want to take one with me.  She finally agreed to do one with Josh and me at the end of the day.
